SGTC Aviation Advisory Committee Meets

Posted on

The advisory committee for the Aviation Maintenance, Avionics, and Aircraft Structural Technology programs at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) held its Fall Semester meeting recently in the Odom Center conference room on the Americus campus.

Composed of representatives from the aviation industry, the advisory committee plays a vital role in helping SGTC faculty and staff enhance and refine the college’s aviation programs to meet workforce demands.

Aviation maintenance instructors Victoria Herron, David Grant, Charles Christmas, Paul Pearson, and Robert Sturgeon shared updates on program changes, enrollment trends, community involvement, and student accomplishments.

Industry attendees included Phillip Connor and Jesse Peabody of Pratt and Whitney and Mike Connor. SGTC was represented by Institutional Effectiveness Director and Grants Coordinator Katrice Martin and Career Services Director Cynthia Carter.

Advisory committees at SGTC serve as an essential bridge between education and industry, offering expert insights that help align curriculum with current industry standards. By keeping program personnel informed about evolving technology and workplace expectations, the committees ensure SGTC graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce upon completion of their programs.

South Georgia Technical College offers more than 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit programs. During the month of November, SGTC is waiving the application fee. To apply, visit www.southgatech.edu and enter the code FREEAPP26.
