South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently held an advisory committee meeting for its Welding program at the Crisp County Center in Cordele. The meeting brought together faculty, administrators, and industry professionals to review program progress, discuss workforce needs, and explore opportunities for continued improvement.
The advisory committee provides critical insight that helps SGTC ensure its technical programs remain relevant and aligned with industry standards. Discussion topics included curriculum updates, enrollment trends, evolving technologies, and job placement opportunities for graduates.
Attendees included industry representatives Ben Ergle of Cordele Metalworks, Lawanda Troutman of West Frazier, and Brantley White of Harris American. SGTC welding instructor Tom Mayo, adjunct instructor Anna Sainte, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Alecia Pinckney, Grant Coordinator/Director of Institutional Effectiveness Katrice Martin, WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai, Career Services Director Cynthia Carter and Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs for the Crisp County Center Michelle McGowan were also present.
These committee meetings serve as an essential link between SGTC and local employers, helping shape programs that meet regional workforce demands and equip students with the skills needed to succeed.
