Macon County High School recently hosted its 2nd Annual CTAE (Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education) Showcase, welcoming business, industry, and community leaders to explore the school's growing career-prep programs. Among the invited guests were South Georgia Technical College representatives Cynthia Carter, Career Services Director, and Brittny Wright-McGrady, High School Coordinator, who engaged with students during the event and praised the school’s efforts in preparing students for college and career success.

Dr. Monica Harvey-Jones, CTAE Director and Assistant Principal at MCHS, coordinated the event and invited stakeholders to take part in a walking tour of the school's CTAE programs. Featured programs included Agriculture, Automotive, Barbering, Business & Technology, NJROTC, and Web Development. SGTC has strong connections to several of these areas helping to bridge the gap between high school coursework and postsecondary training.

“This showcase is a testament to the impact CTAE has in aligning education with real-world opportunities,” said Carter. “When our students graduate, they are truly ready for successful entry into the workforce.”

The CTAE initiative blends rigorous academics with hands-on, career-focused learning, offering students opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications, dual enrollment credit, and real-world work experience. In 2023 alone, more than 27,000 students across Georgia and over 13,000 employers participated in work-based learning programs—demonstrating the growing momentum of career-ready education in the state.

South Georgia Technical College continues to play an active role in promoting workforce readiness and supporting regional schools in their CTAE efforts.
