- Electrical Maintenance Technician
Electrical Maintenance Technician (EM81) Technical Certificate of Credit
The Electrical Maintenance Technician Technical Certificate of Credit provides instruction in industrial systems electrical inspection, maintenance, service, and repair. Topics include DC and AC fundamentals, motor controls, magnetic starters and braking systems, PLCs, and industrial wiring procedures.
Entrance date: Each semester
Program Admission Requirements: A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Achievement of appropriate scores on the college's placement test or submission of acceptable SAT or ACT scores are currently being waived.
Applicant must be at least 16 years of age.

IDFC 1011Direct Current I
Corequisite: MATH 1012 Introduces direct current (DC) concepts and applications. Topics include: electrical principles and laws; batteries; DC test equipment; series, parallel, and simple combination circuits; and laboratory procedures and safety practices. |

ELTR 1020Alternating Current Fundamentals
Introduces the theory and application of varying sine wave voltages and current. Topics include: magnetism, AC wave generation, AC test equipment, inductance, capacitance, and basic transformers. |

IDSY 1110Industrial Motor Controls I
This course introduces the fundamental concepts, principles, and devices involved in industrial motor controls, theories and applications of single and three-phase motors, wiring motor control circuits, and magnetic starters and braking. Topics include, but are not limited to, motor theory and operating principles, control devices, symbols and schematic diagrams, NEMA standards, Article 430 NEC and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. |

IDSY 1120Basic Industrial PLC's
Corequisite: IDSY 1110 This course introduces the operational theory, systems terminology, PLC installation, and programming procedures for Programmable Logic Controllers. Emphasis is placed on PLC programming, connections, installation, and start-up procedures. Other topics include timers and counters, relay logic instructions, and hardware and software applications. |

IDSY 1130Industrial Wiring
Teaches the fundamental concepts of industrial wiring with an emphasis on installation procedures. Topics include: grounding, raceways, three-phase systems, transformers (three-phase and single-phase), wire sizing, overcurrent protection, NEC requirements, industrial lighting systems, and switches, receptacles, and cord connectors. |
